Condolence Messages

  1. Gerald and Marg Barron :

To our wonderful aunt and mother to Ken, we want to express our great sorrow and wish her and her family well in this time of grief – Shirley and her family and the families of Doreen, Brian, Barry and Dean. I have great memories of many summer holidays in Fisher Branch and will always be grateful for knowing Ken. I was his little cousin. I remember Ken working at the mink ranch in Fisher Branch and always coming home for lunch – ever happy. Ken used to pick me up on Fridays and take me home on Sundays after spending a weekend hanging out with Brian – always a good time. Ken’s friends were everybody’s friends showing Ken’s keen ability to judge good people. It it any wonder he ended a long career in human resources. We will miss him and we wish the family well.

May God be with you in your time of sorrow. Ken was such an easy guy to talk to and very easy going. The one thing I remember about Ken is that family meant the most to him. He was always talking about family. Know that he is in a better place now.

My sincere condolences to all of Ken’s family. Ken interviewed and hired me at MTS right out of university and I continue to work here today. I guess he saw some potential in me and I’ve always been grateful to him for that. As time passed I got to know Ken better through curling and shared some fun times. He was a really great guy and will surely be missed.

Ken and I used to bus to work together. I believe he lived on Sylvia at the time. I was young and new to MTS and Ken was very willing to impart his professional wisdom and advise to me. I have remembered some of that advice over the years at MTS and am grateful for it. My thoughts and prayers are with you!
    Blessings, Jo-Anne Scott

  5. Mike and Linda :

As Ken’s neighbor for 12 years, we are very happy to know Ken, he was great man, open and generous for offering help people. I learnt how to make wine from him, always when I got problem, I called him, then he came over to instruct me how to fix it. For 12 years, we have been getting along very well. We have been in many places in different countries, before we finally settled down in Calgary, Ken was the best neighbor than ever we have met! We feel so sad for him loss, in those recent days, when I looked at his truck over my window, I feel he did not pass us away, feel he is still nearby and smile to us!

Shirley, Shelly and Christy, I am truly sorry for your loss. Ken will be missed. His thoughtfulness and wisdom regarding life in conversations we had during his journey are vivid in my memory. One of the good guys who battled his disease to the end are an inspiration to his friends at the Southern Alberta Myeloma Patient Society. I hope that many great memories will sustain you in the months ahead. I will keep you and your families in my prayers.

  10. Mrs.Larence, Christy and Shelley, my heart is heavy and my memories are many. You’re my family, since forever. You and Mr.Larence, my second mom and dad for my entire youth. Was there a day I wasn’t over? I feel blessed to have grown up with you, that you’re still in my life, and I take comfort in the thought that you and Ken helped shape the person I am today.
With lots of tears, love and big hugs, that skinny kid

Shirley. So sorry to hear about Ken. Great memories but my fondest would have to be F.B.curling and parties at the Larences. Beating the top seeded team in the F.B.spiel and my dad always a joker like Ken,” I think you should hang up your broom”. Although they are both gone now memories are forever. Doreen, Brian, Barry, Dean thinking about you guys. Ed & Donna

    To Shelley and family,

I am sorry for your loss. Our fathers are such a BIG part of childhood and then if we are lucky, he his seen in a remarkable light as a grandfather.
Many people come into our lives and only a handful leave a great impact. Ken certainly made an impression.
I know he was always ready for a laugh.
He was lucky to have his girls with him for all the good and bad times.
Keep the memories alive and laugh a lot.
