It is with great sadness that the family of Fred Lang announces his passing on Friday, June 12, 2009 at the age of 86 years.
Fred was born in Melville, SK while his Mother was visiting family but was raised in Winnipeg, MB. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on August 11, 1942. Fred and Connie (nee Ursel) married on September 23, 1948 and together they moved to Calgary in 1950. Fred earned his Master Plumber’s Certificate in April of 1954 and then formed F.W. Lang Plumbing & Heating Ltd. The success of his business was due to personal integrity and hard work. Fred began enjoying retirement in 1980. He has been a member of the Bowness Lions Club since 1976; through his contributions he was presented with the 2000-01 Melvin Jones Fellow Award for his “Dedicated Humanitarian Services” by the Lions Club International Foundation. Fred joined the Springbank Heritage Club in 2003 and enjoyed the kind folk and a variety of events, particularly cribbage on games day. He was a generous man and helped those around him, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.
