LAMONT, Patricia Ann (nee McCallum)

LAMONT, Patricia Ann (nee McCallum)

August 27, 1942 – Edmonton, AB

September 29, 2014 – Calgary, AB

It is with profound sadness we share the news of the passing of our dearly beloved wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend, Patricia Ann Lamont at the age of 72 years. Her never ending love for her family and circle of friends will be forever cherished. Lung cancer took her life after a courageous battle.

Born in Edmonton, AB on August 27, 1942 to Edna (nee Brown) and Malcolm McCallum, she was the oldest of three children. After graduating with a degree in social work from the University of Montana, she returned to Alberta to work for the Government of Alberta (Social Services – Social Worker) in Edmonton, High Prairie, Grande Prairie and Calgary.

Pat married Clarke Lamont, her beloved husband and friend of forty-eight years, January 15, 1966, in Edmonton before moving to High Prairie. Her dearly loved sons, Doug and Dave, who were born in 1969 and 1971, were the greatest joys of her life and for whom she was forever grateful. Doug brought Molly into the family and they gave her cherished grandsons, Nolan and Greyson Lamont and she loved them dearly!!! Her family loved her unconditionally and stood by her daily. Pat was lovingly embraced by her beloved sisters (both of Edmonton), Bonnie Parks (Gordon) and Beth Tutschek (Alex) who supported her through her illness. She loved her nieces and nephews, Jacqueline (Darrell) Curtis, Malcolm (Natalie) Parks, Greg Parks, Amanda (Casey) Charleson, Brad Tutschek (Cassidy), Monte Tutschek and Lauren (Nate) Carlson, who were very caring. Pat was forever grateful for the love and caring her friends gave her as they embraced her during her illness.

A member of the Junior League of Calgary, member of the University of Montana Alumni Board (Vice President), Panel Member Government of Alberta Appeal Secretariat, and many other volunteer positions too numerous to mention. Pat got great fulfillment in serving her community, particularly when including her children. She was creative and artistic, and enjoyed many hours in the artistic mode.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Private Graveside Service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, c/o Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 – 29 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 4N2 Telephone: 1 (866) 412-4222. www.albertacancer.ca/memorial. The family would like to express appreciation for the care Pat received while a patient at Tom Baker Cancer Centre and Southwood Hospice.

In living memory of Pat Lamont, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: 403-256-9575.

We deeply regret hearing the sad news. The world all at once became a much more dreary place. It seems that the good people leave us all too soon. However, we extend to the family our sincere and heartfelt sympathy and offer to do whatever we can to help during this time. Friends help during such times.

All the best, George and Jane Dennison

We were not privileged to have a long friendship with Pat, but over the course of some years in Arizona, we came to admire and appreciate her genuine warmth, caring, and talents. It was a privilege to know her.

It will be hard to believe that during this winter season that she will not be a bright and gracious shining light in our homes. May she rest in peace. Our heartfelt condolences to Clark and family. John and Carol Gianforte

  15. Bill and Dori Johnston :

Clarke, Doug, Dave and families: Pat had unconditional love for you, her family, and all her friends, and a lot of tolerance for all others. She would warm the room with her smile and never completely reveal what she was up to. She was quick to volunteer and always thoughtful of others. No task was beyond her ability to organize it and no goal would go unrecognized. It was an honor to have Pat consider us friends and be treated like family. Many of our fondest UM memories start with, “do you remember when Pat and Clarke ….. insert story here!” Pat would not want us to grieve but grieve we shall. We will also celebrate a life well-lived not only by Pat but all those who knew Pat. To our dearest friend, Patricia “Pat” Ann McCallum Lamont.

  24. Clarke and family of Pat, it was with sadness that I read of Pat’s passing in the Winter 2015 issue of the MONTANAN. Pat was a dear friend during our college days. Pat and I shared many laughs and adventures. Reading Pat’s obituary, it is apparent that she was very much a contributor to her family, community and alma mater, the University of Montana. Rest in peace, Pat. My sincere sympathy to you, Clarke and Pat’s family, on the loss of a special lady.
