Scotty Lorne Labelle went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 19, 2006 at the age of 59 years after a short battle with cancer.
Scotty leaves to mourn his mother Eva Labelle, sons Randy, Lorne (Karen); adopted son Eddie Holloway Jr.; daughters, Sabrina, Leanne (Pierre), adopted daughter Lenora (Darryl) Powderface; nineteen grandchildren; brothers Casey, Marty (Linda), Rick; sisters Linda (Irvin), Brenda (Glen), special cousin Darlene; special friend, brother, and partner Lawrence Chiniquay, Alvin Quinn, and Jim Karras; paternal uncle George (Sheila) Labelle, maternal uncle Murray Hunter, adopted father Lester Joseph; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives from Morley, Hobbema, Tsuu T’ina, Siksika, Eden Valley, and Bighorn Nations. Scotty was predeceased by his father Gordon Lyle in 2001; brother Byron in 1984; son Troy in 1994, grandchild Cristian Wesley in 2004 and his nephew Marty Ear in 2000.
Scotty was born on April 1, 1946 and raised in Morley, AB, and educated in Exshaw. He worked as a Squad boss for Wild Land forest fire for eleven years, and various labour, contracting, ranch hand and lumberjack. He was an avid sportsman in fishing, hunting, and trapping. Scotty was christened at birth by his late Grandfather Elijah Hunter (Su ga Por he) as _ bi thka Wakan, also known as cowboy by his many friends and uncles.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) today, March 22, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. Wake Services will follow at his mother’s residence, Eva Labelle in (Morley, AB).
