Jean Davidson Kuzmicz (nee Trist) of Calgary passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2005 at the age of 77 years. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend who will be fondly remembered.
Jean was born in Newton Grange, Scotland on November 11, 1927. Throughout her youth, she was involved in highland dancing and achieved numerous awards and medals including “World Champion Highland Dancer.” In 1956, Jean moved with her husband Leon and her two children to Canada and settled in Calgary to raise their family. Upon retirement in 1977, Jean and Leon moved to a beautiful apple orchard property in Creston, BC. Jean loved life in the Kootenay Valley, and was very involved in the Creston community. Jean and Leon were both members of the Creston Eagles and enjoyed dinners, darts and dancing together. Jean was also an active member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church. We will remember Grandma for her humour and her words of wisdom. She had a sharp memory and a talent for telling the most captivating stories. We are inspired by her strength and her will to overcome hardship and adversity.
“We will love and remember you Grandma with all our hearts.”
Jean is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Yvonne and Gordon Saunders of Calgary; her five grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason), Mark, Becky, Pam, and Liana; and her sister and brother-in-law Charlotte and Stan Yassinsky of Abbotsford, BC. She was predeceased by her husband Leon and her son Anton.
