Katharina Kuhlwein of Calgary passed away on Friday, March 11, 2005 at the age of 95 years.
Katharina was born on June 26, 1909 in Hirschhorn, Germany and emigrated from Germany to Canada with her husband and children in 1953. For many years, she was very active in Franzl’s Gasthaus. Katharina was devoted to her husband and family and loved them dearly. She was the best wife and mother. We will all remember her for her cheerfulness, smiling face, good nature, and kindness.
Katharina will be sadly missed by her children and their spouses, Inge Geider, Renate and John Gradishar, Hans and Trudy Kuhlwein; her sister and brother-in-law Margaret and Karl Engert of Hockenheim, Germany; her ten grandchildren and their spouses, Elvira and Robin White, Sandra Hoenle and Jurgen Bahr, Michaela and Doug Young, Robert and Maureen Gradishar, Kevin and Erika Kuhlwein, Christine and Mark Giles, Barb Petrunia, Allen Kuhlwein, Jerry and Jana Brown, and Corrie Brown and Tim McLean; her nineteen great-grandchildren, Kathryn, Elizabeth, Darren, Cooper, Jayne, Jennifer, Joshua, Luke, Devon, Austin, Bradley, Lisa, Sarah, Cassandra, Daniel, Taryn, Nolan, Taylor, and Brianne; and many friends, cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives in Germany and Canada. Katharina was predeceased by her husband Frank Kuhlwein, her mother Anna Gimbel, her son-in-law Egon Sadilek, and recently, by her son-in-law, Frank Geider.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral (219 – 18th Avenue S.W.) on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Lawrence Bagnall, Presider.
