  16. Josh Strasner :

To the entire Kuhach, Gray, and Thigpen families – I am so very sorry for your loss. While I grew up in San Angelo, I did not really get to know Raye until this past year. I consider myself so fortunate that I was able to get to know her, and you all through her, during this past year. We were able to have a lot of conversations about life and death, cancer journey’s force that on you. Her love for you all is unquestionable. The fact that she felt the love from you all is equally unquestionable. I seriously started this journey thinking I could help Raye given our diagnosis was the same and I was four months ahead of her. In the end, she ended up helping me. For that I am forever grateful for Raye. She will be missed but she is absolutely at peace.

My deepest sympathies are with each member of the Kuhach, Thigpen, & Gray families. I have the fondest memories of Raye from growing up with her in San Angelo, TX. We attended Junior High & High School together. Sophie, we even went to sleepovers at friends’ houses together & pulled pranks on the girls’ who fell asleep first; had pillow fights & pretend beauty pageants!! Raye was always the “life of the party!” As we reconnected over this past year, I realized how Raye was very much the same Lady as she was that fiesty girl 😉 . She put her passion for fun, family & relationships as a priority, not surprising to me! Her strength & determination to win the battle of over cancer, while still dedicating herself to each of you & her extended family & friends, near & far away, showed the true colors of Raye’s beauty….her heart!! Heaven does have a charming new angel 🙂 . May this message bring you laughter & joy at this time of great sadness. Know that many prayers are lifting each one of up now & in the future.
My sincere condolences, Dawn Skiles Sanders (’82 classmate)

Dear Joe and Family! Words seem so empty at a time like this and I treasure the times we shared here at Aera (aka: CalResources, aka: Shell). Raye’s beautiful smile was always a welcomed sight and she shared her love for fun by helping with the Club Aera events. She is greatly missed and you are Joe and I’m praying for all of you as you grow through this difficult time. Love and prayers to all of you!
