Anna was born to Joseph and Anna Mayer and lived in Hungary until the war was getting too close. Joseph was taken away from them by the war and then they moved to Germany in 1945 and remained there for four years. In early 1949 they landed in Halifax and took a train out to Beiseker, AB. They settled here with relatives for a short while before they moved to Calgary. Anna and her sister were employed at the Holy Cross Hospital as nursing aids and learned to speak English with the Grey nuns and local priest. In 1952 she met and married John Kuchera. They went on to have four children that they raised together in Calgary.
Anna is survived by her children; John (Beth), Mary, Liz, Tony (Cheryl), her grandchildren; Christopher and Geoffrey, her great grandson, Ryan, sister Theresa, brother Julius (Carole), sister’s in law; Matilda Pinter and Adeline Mayer, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
She was predeceased by her husband John, her parents, her step father John Tuss and her brother Tony.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Tuesday October 1, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church (8944 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Wednesday October 2, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
