KRASMAN, Douglas

December 15, 1928- August 5, 2012

August 5th, 2012 we lost our Dad and Grandad, Douglas Krasman. Doug passed away peacefully at the Agape Hospice in the presence of his family.

Doug led a blessed life, he married his soul mate Heidi (nee Warkentin) in 1957 and they enjoyed forty-three years of marriage. Doug and Heidi had five wonderful children Sharon (Gary), Dave (Shannon), Sandy, Mike (Elsie), and Sue (Steve). Doug lived for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Amy (Craig), Corey, Erica, Jarred, Brett, Jordan, Carlie, Spencer, Brynne, and Mason. He was a strong supporter of animal welfare and had two great animal loves, Peggy and Brittany.

Doug was born in Calgary and grew up in Bowness with his brother Ken helping their dad operate their mink farm. He was a true Calgarian, loving the Rocky Mountains and Alberta’s blue skies – he never wanted to live anywhere else. Loving sports from a young age, Doug supported the Calgary Flames and dutifully held Stampeders season’s tickets for over twenty-five years. He spent thirty-three years working for Nova Corporation and was an active member in the Nova Retiree Club. Doug enjoyed giving back to his community in his retirement and became a board member with the Kerby Centre.

He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Margaret Krasman and his loving wife Heidi, who passed away in September 1999. Despite losing Heidi, Doug continued to embrace life and cherished every moment, always living for his family. He is survived by his brother Ken, his wife Lois, their family and cousins, nieces and nephews.

Condolence Messages

  1. Shirley & Bob Ward :

We were saddened to hear of your Dad’s passing. Doug was one of the truly great guys, always ready with a smile and warm greeting. A very sincere man, he showed much empathy for others’ concerns and problems. He was often the life of the party, along with your Mom, Heidi. She was a great lady in her own right. We find we think of them both in the same frame of life, as they seemed to share a special love. Remember them together now, for they have left your family a great legacy to follow.

We are in Ontario with Michelle, Paul and girls for the month of August and regret we are not home to attend Doug’s memorial. We offer our prayers and sympathy to all your family for your loss.
