KONYN, Frank C.

September 24, 1926 – January 17, 2012

Frank C. Konyn, beloved husband of Brenda of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at the age of 85 years.

Frank was born September 24, 1926 to Roelof (John) Konyn and Hendrika (Harriet) Konyn (nee Verwoerd) in Geneva, New York, USA.

The family moved to Johnstown, New York when Frank was a young child. He graduated from Johnstown High School in 1944. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Force.

While working for Capital Finance Corp. in Gloversville, New York, he was transferred to Washington State in March of 1955. It was there that he met Brenda Pfeifer. They were married in Seattle, Washington on October 22, 1955.

They moved to Schenectady, New York in 1957, where Frank was employed as Accounting Supervisor by the former TerBush and Powell, Inc (a general insurance agency) until 1971.

The family moved to Calgary in 1971. He was employed as a general manager of the former Rocky Mountain Life Insurance Company from March 1974 until his retirement in 1993.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Brenda; son Karl J. Konyn (Patti Mitchell) of Calgary; daughters, Karen (Scott) Heffley of Calgary and Kristi (Brad) Kruhlak of Lacombe, AB; sister Joan (Jim) Hough of Russiaville, Indiana; grandchildren, Brandon Heffley, Elysia Heffley and Michelle Kruhlak; and several nieces, nephews and cousins in the US and Canada. He was predeceased by his sister Harriet Konyn Graff in 2003.

At Frank’s request, there will be no Funeral Services. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice.
