KOCH– Bernice Rita

February 14, 1936 – July 26, 2011

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bernice on July 26, 2011. She passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at the age of 75. Bernice was born Bernice Rita Henry in Cutworth, Saskatchewan on February 14, 1936, along with her twin sister Patricia. She will be dearly missed by her husband of 56 years John Koch, and her children Anna, Ron and Kim, Jan and Rudy and Gail.

She is survived by sisters, Pat and Marion; brothers, Norman and Marcel; grandchildren, Jennifer, Heather, Tamara, Chris, Steven, Johnny, Janna, Josh and Chad, Brandi Lynn and Spencer and all her precious great-grandchildren. Bernice loved her music, bingo, family gatherings and camping. The family would like to thank the staff at the Southwood Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion of our mother. As well as the many friends and family members who helped with moms care and comfort over the last few months.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Southwood Hospice, 211 Heritage Drive S.E., Calgary, AB T2H 1M9.

    I am so sorry to hear of Bernice’s passing. I had many memorable times with your whole family as Denise’s best friend. I hope you find comfort in knowing that your mom touched many people and the laughter than ran through that house when I WAS A YOUNG ADULT, made me understand what a family was in the good times, the tough times. Your mom always had a pot of coffee on. John I can’t imagine the pain you are in at the loss of your wife, best friend and partner. I am truly sorry.     The loss of a loved one is never easy…however, the loss of Bernice, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, mentor & the list goes on…is especially hard. She was a very hard act to follow…she will be so sadly missed by all who knew & loved her. May your wonderful memories comfort you in this time of sadness. Please know that there are many people out there who considered themselves honored to know Bernice…Myself especially. I am thinking about all of you & You have my heartfelt condolances at her passing…Always loved & sadly missed…A tear was shed at her passing but another star is now shining down up on all.
