KLAVER – Louis (Lou)

May 26, 1956 – November 11, 2009

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lou, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend. Lou slipped away at home early Wednesday morning, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Lou is survived by his loving wife Celia, stepsons Leon (Lana and grandson Quentin) and Noel; sister Mary Blom (Ed); brother Jake (Mary), and sister Angie Neal (Doug). He is predeceased by his parents Jacob and Alida, and his brother John.
Lou was born and raised in Calgary. After graduating with an Engineering degree from the University of Calgary, Lou became an esteemed part of Calgary’s oil and gas industry. An active member of APEGGA, he was a mentor to many engineers who admired his professionalism and integrity.

Dear Celia and family, Mary and Ed, Jake and Mary, and Angie and Doug,

We were so sorry to hear of Lou’s passing. Over the past 30 years Mary and Ed have often talked of her family in Calgary and, even though we are far away, we feel in some way part of Mary’s family. With the news of Lou’s recent diagnosis of cancer we often thought of you during the last few months. Please accept our heartfelt sympathy at this difficult time. We are thinking of you.
