KITCHENHAM, Michael (Mike) John

July 2, 1957 – March 3, 2012

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Mike, beloved husband of Gena and father to Ashlee, Chelsee and Michael at the age of 54 years.

Mike’s early life took him to many places in the world: from his birthplace of Accra, Ghana, to England, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and finally to Canada.

Mike loved his family and was especially proud of his children. His first priority in life was his family, and their well being. He excelled at providing for his family. His generosity touched many; he was always willing to go the extra mile.

Mike began his retail driven career in car sales for Toyota at the age of seventeen and then managed various retail stores before becoming Director of Planning and Development for Value Village Inc. A decade later, Mike began a rewarding career with Loblaw Companies Ltd. where he became a successful Senior Project Manager. Mike was dedicated to Loblaws bringing unmatched professionalism as well as his unique sense of humour to the workplace.

Mike is survived by his mother Margaret, sisters, Sandra (Thompson) and Linda (Bowes), and brother Andrew.

Just when his days seemed brightest, just when his hopes seemed best, God called him from amongst us to his eternal rest. Sadly missed but God knows best. He will live in our hearts forever.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Mike Kitchenham, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.

  2. Dallas Wingerak :

I worked with Mike for 5 years at Loblaw, ending this past November. It was always clear to me how much he cared for his family, they were always his priority, even when he had to travel so much for work. To Gena I am so very sorry for your loss and to Ashlee, Chelsee and Michael, please know what a great guy he was and how much I respected him and am privilaged to have been able to spend time with him. He taught me many valuable lessons about project management, but by far his best project – the one that he was most proud of – was all of you.

We pray the love of God enfolds you during your journey through grief. We send you thoughts of comfort. How I wish I was able to meet Mike in person. He was the only project manager in the West who would chat with me about things like vacation, kids, migraines, etc. I got the impression that he was a very nice person and he will be missed.
