KILROE, Ida Kristine

April 28, 1928 – Claresholm, Alberta
July 22, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta

Ida Kristine “Pete” Kilroe, of Calgary, beloved wife of Robert “Rock” Kilroe passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 22, 2017, at the age of 89 years.

Ida was born in Claresholm, Alberta on April 28, 1928. Prior to the 2nd World War her family then moved to the Calgary area, where she was educated in a small school just outside of Calgary. She later attended Western Canada High School and upon completion went to work first for a bank and then an oil company. After marriage and raising a family in Calgary, Ida and Rock retired to their holiday home in the Windermere Valley, dividing their time between Windermere and Apache Junction, Arizona. It was also during retirement she discovered many new activities including roller blading and painting. Painting was to become her passion for the next 30 years and it was amazing to watch her growth as an artist. One of her highlights of her later years was her trip to Norway with her sister Hildur to discover and visit family there. Ida will always be remembered for her caring and giving spirit and her unbridled optimism, she found a silver lining in any situation.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 67 years, Rock and their three children, Sandie (Doug) Dalton and their family, Kristine (Mark Gough), Johanna (John Octeau) and Bryan, Bob (Debbie) and their family Brittany, Cassidy (Spencer Mohrbutter) and Robbie; and Tom Kilroe; as well as numerous sisters and brothers in law and nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, August 24th, 2017 at 2:00p.m. Private Graveside Service to be held at a later date. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
