Condolence Messages

  1. Elaine Phillips :

More than ten years ago Robin and I had the privilege of speaking at your church for Seminary Day during my time as an MDiv student here in Cochrane. You and Wayne were so very kind to me, a young and green “preacher” at the time. (I had bronchitis and lost my voice for part of that weekend, and Wayne was a most calming presence throughout the ordeal. I have never forgotten his gentleness.) May you and your loved ones know the comforting, soothing touch of our risen Lord in this present season of sorrow.

    Much love,
Robin and Elaine Phillips (now adjunct instructors at CSBS&C)

  2. I have many warm memories of Wayne, especially from the days when we served together in the same association of Alberta churches. I was a young pastor, and he offered a listening ear and a caring heart. We at the Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary and College will continue to pray for your family in the days ahead.

Sorry for your loss. Wayne was the pastor at my Mom and Dads church and officiated at my dads funeral. He gave me the strength to do my dads eulogy and kept mt secret safe until it was time to deliver the eulogy as we all knew my mom would try and talk me out of it!
Wayne was a great man with a kind heart and always laughing and keeping everyone’s spirits up. He will be missed.
    Love Cathy and Rudy

My day was always a little brighter when he popped by my Office. He is missed , and You my Friend , have people who love You all around You.

  7. Dear Nancy – on behalf of my mother Olga Banman & the Banman family, I would like to extend condolences to you & your family.
You & Wayne have been very special to my parents for a long time. Wayne was their pastor at Jasper Place Baptist Church when they moved to Edmonton, and became much more than a pastor – he was a very devoted friend who spent much time and energy in being helpful to them, especially when they had to move into a retirement home. He consistently went above and beyond the call of duty for them.
Several family members, including myself, also got to know Wayne. We will always remember his kindness and caring, his sense of humor, his determination to be positive, and his signature ‘God bless’ at the end of a conversation or email.
Thank you, Wayne and Nancy, for being so special to my parents Bert & Olga Banman.

    To all the Key family,
We are deeply sorrowed by your loss, which by the way is also our loss. I remember the last time I saw Wayne, he had gone to visit Mom (Aunt Betty). He made her so happy knowing how much he loved her and all of us. He was so bubbly & positive. It was always a delight to see him! His beautiful smile beaming from ear to ear & his eyes twinkling. It was the first time Richard met him & he left a warm loving feeling. Our thoughts & prayers are with you. It is never easy to loose a loved one. Hopefully it will help to know that his spirit will always be with us & his love will live on within us all.
    Love Joanne & Richard XOXO

  12. Saeed, Sandra & Rozina Hojjati :

Dear Nancy, Duane, Denise and families,

It is difficult to write in words what Wayne meant to us. He was part of our family and shared the joys with us and walked through sorrow with us. He lives in our hearts and the love, kindness, support and strength he lived each day inspires us to live each day the best we can. His smile, his laughter, his hugs, and his spirit and his sense of humour are things we cherish in our memories of him. Saeed loved him like a father. Rozina has a special place in her heart for Wayne who baptized her, mentored her and made her feel so special. And for me, he was a spiritual father, a mentor, a friend, and a gift from God to our family. He is loved and will be forever remembered . . .thank you Wayne for your eternal investment in our lives. Until we meet again . . .

  15. Ron and Marjory Pearce :

    Dear Nancy and your family,

Just heard of your loss today at JP. and I am so sorry.

I will always remember Wayne even while he was struggling with his health, he would still say, let me have a minute of prayer with you. Now knowing he is with God and not suffering anymore, is the only consolation we have because he is going to be sadly missed. May you take comfort from our Heavenly Father, knowing we will meet him again someday.

    Our Love

    Ron and Marj

  16. Seija Kaspersen :

Very belatedly, I learned of Wayne’s illness and passing this week. I thought about all the good times we had at Foothills on the night shift and how Wayne was always available to help anyone and everyone with any problems they were having. I also have fond memories of your short stay with us here in Thunder Bay when you were passing through to go to Southern Ontario. Wayne called me and said a special prayer for me shortly after Kurt passed away and I had always hoped to see you both again some day but God needed him before that could happen. All my love and prayers to the whole family. God bless!
