KENNEDY, Maxine Merle (nee Rumble)

KENNEDY, Maxine Merle (nee Rumble)
June 14, 1927 – March 14, 2013

Maxine Merle Kennedy, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away suddenly, surrounded by family, at the Foothills Hospital on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at the age of 85 years.

Maxine was born on June 14, 1927 in Rouleau, Saskatchewan to Dean and Mary Rumble. While working at the Bank in Regina, Maxine met the love of her life, Howard, who was working as a Fireman. With her deep love for animals and wildlife, it was no wonder sparks flew between them. They were introduced into each other’s lives during a picnic at the wild animal park in Moose Jaw. On August 30, 1952, Maxine and Howard were married in the United Church in Rouleau, Saskatchewan. They moved and started raising a family in Estlin and Lumsden, Saskatchewan, moving to Calgary, AB in 1969. Maxine worked at the Red Cross for five years then finding her passion in the Real Estate she spent the next many years of her career making friends until her retirement at the age of 70 years. Following her retirement, Maxine and Howard moved to Airdrie, AB to spend their days in a quieter life filled with the love and company of family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, needle point, cooking, drawing, tending to her flowers and camping. Her love for her horses and cats was immeasurable, especially her latest baby (Kitty) who will forever remain her favorite. Sitting on the front deck of their Airdrie home visiting friends and neighbours had most recently become some of Maxine and Howard’s favorite times. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Maxine was predeceased by her father, mother and three brothers. She leaves to mourn her loving husband of 60 years Howard; her three children Bruce (Debbie), Crystal, and Gary (Andrea); her six grandchildren Jeremy, Christopher, Jesica, Lisa, Taylor, Jordan and three great grandchildren Kaiyden, Alexis and Kiera.

Maxine made many friends through her travels and many interests and touched the lives of everyone she met in ways we will forever remember.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 3:00p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. 5. Lois Summerville :

Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time – Howard and Family.
Maxine will be missed by her yearly Christmas letters and phone chats. She kept us in touch with the family out west. We will miss the family re-unions both in Ontario and in Calgary. Howard, Maxine and family showed us the most wonderful hospitality when we were out to visit with them. This will never be forgotten. I hope our families will continue to keep in touch. The phone calls close the distance gap between Ontario and Alberta.
Harold and Lois Summerville and families
