March 11, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Gayle Keal passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, March 11, 2018 at AgeCare Midnapore in Calgary, AB at the age of 75 years.

Gayle was born in Moose Jaw, SK, daughter of the late Jean and Don Kent. It was there that she met and married her late husband Geoff Keal, after which they moved to Calgary where they raised their three children.

Gayle was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting many keepsakes for her grandchildren that will be forever cherished. Chinook Bowladrome was home to Gayle’s weekly ladies bowling league for thirty plus years, an activity that provided many happy times. She was also an amazing cook; the care that went into her dishes for family birthdays and holidays were always something to look forward to. Over the years Gayle enjoyed many trips to Windermere with family and friends. In addition, Gayle played an integral part along with her late husband Geoff in growing a successful and well respected construction business in Calgary, AB.

Gayle is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Don and LaVonne Keal; her two daughters and son-in-law, Leslie Keal, and Jana and Derek Koch; her four grandchildren, Riley, Graysen, Mackenzie and Geoffrey; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Clyde Rempel; her brother and sister-in-law, Bart and Val Kent; as well as many extended family and friends.

In keeping with Gayle’s wishes, no service will be held. She will be cremated and her cremated remains will be spread in Hawaii as her final resting place along with her late husband Geoff. 1. Sharon Benson :

I was so sad to hear of Auntie Gayle’s passing. I remember travelling to Calgary to spend a few days with her and Uncle Geoff back in 1988. She was a great host and we had a great visit while watching the Olympics on TV together . I recall Gayle and Geoff’s frequent visits to Moose Jaw to visit her mom Jean Kent and my parents. We had some really nice visits. She will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family…. may you cherish the good times and keep the memories close to your heart. Take care .

We are so sorry to hear that Gayle has passed away. I remember Gayle for many of the things mentioned in the obituary, I admired the beautiful things she had knitted for her grandchildren and for gifts to our grandchildren as well. We were also lucky recipients of her hospitality and fine meals, many times over the years. Doug and I have fond memories of good times spent together with Gayle and Geoff that we treasure. Gayle will be missed! Thinking of you all at this time, love Uncle Doug and Auntie Maureen

  4. Denise(Keal), James, and Kayana Marchant :

So very saddened by the news of Aunty Gayle’s passing!❤ I have fond memories as a child stopping in on our way to BC for summer vacation and tenting in the backyard on Brazeau, sneaking in and out the doggy door! And the food! Amazing! Took us to the pool and watched my brother push me off the tower cause I was chicken, then coke slurpee’s from 7-11, only in Calgary back then (Still hooked!)
As an adult, drove my mom, my mother-in-law, and myself to the flower shop to order flowers for my wedding…she sat back and giggled at the gong show between us and the flower “Diva”! Windmere visits, out on the boat, hangin by the fire, catching her giving my 5 year old daughter chocolate at 10 p.m….Hospitality, second to none! And generosity, unlimited! Always a great time! She will be greatly missed! Thinking of you all at this difficult time hoping you find peace within!

  5. My Auntie Gayle was the best. She saw in me something no one else did. A long time ago in the late 70’s I was travelling with my young wife on a motorcycle. We had been storm stayed at Stathmore for hours. I called my Uncle in Calgary. He was just like my dad…he gave me shit and passed me to Auntie Gayle. To make a long story short my Auntie Gayle came out to Strathmore and picked my wife and I up and took us to the bus terminal in Calgary. Before picking us up I stashed my motorcycle in the RCMP compound in Stathmore promising to pick it up very soon. My Aunt Gayle sent us on our way without a further word and never again brought it up. I am forever grateful in having known and been loved by my wonderful Auntie. I will forever miss your smile. Love from your nephew Steve.
