JOYCE, Diane

July 10, 1949 – September 2, 2012

Diane was raised in Drayton Valley, Alberta, with her mother and father, Regina and Clarence Anderson, her twin brother Donny, and her three other brothers and four sisters. She was the oldest of the girls. While attending Frank Maddock High School, Diane met and started dating her one and only love, Paul, in 1963, when they were only fourteen and fifteen years old. They married in 1969, moved to Calgary, and purchased their first and forever home at 14 Marwood Circle in 1972 where they proudly raised their son and daughter. Diane worked at AGT before taking a data and finance position at NOVA Chemicals in 1987. She worked there for twenty years until she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in 2007. Diane courageously battled the disease for over five years before it eventually took her life. She died peacefully at home at the young age of 63 with her son, daughter and husband by her side. Diane will be deeply missed by her four grandchildren, her entire family and all of her friends.

Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. 17. Paul, Kris, Mandi and family … my sincere condolences go out to you. Diane was a co-worker of mine at NOVA, but through our daily interactions via phone / e-mail from Alberta (Diane) to Ontario (me), we became friends over the years. Diane always had a calming effect on me, even when our jobs were so hectic … she was such a ‘gem’. She never spoke ill of anyone, always choosing to be upbeat … we should all aspire to be the special person Diane was. She will be deeply missed by all her family / friends / co-workers. She is now at peace, no longer in pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you through this most difficult time.

  19. I had the pleasure of knowing Diane through our investment club that we formed, we had a lot of laughs together and through those times I learned of her family and how much she treasured her children and even more, those grandbabies! I loved Diane’s sense of humour and am amazed at her quiet strength. She is one of the most gracious women I have been honoured to know…
Do take care of each other.

  20. Victoria Abramovitz :

My sincere condolences to all of the Joyce family…I did not know Diane well but what I did know is what an amazing lady she was. I was so moved by the service for her…I could see Diane working late at night helping Mandi and so laughed at Diane wondering if people would notice the same outfit. I also encourage all of us to aspire to “be just like her” – such a moving sentiment from her sister. Kris – what a beautiful and moving tribute to your Mom. I will never forget you thanking your wife for loving your mother – so very touching and a memorable tribute to both your Mom and your wife. Diane loved her family so very much and was proud of you all. She will be missed and I hope you take comfort in knowing that she was loved by all she met.
