Jorgensen – Heather Jean

November 19, 1941– July 17, 2011

Heather Jorgensen (formerly Vermette) passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2011 at the age of 69 years.

Heather was born in Vancouver, and spent much of her adult life in Calgary raising her four children. In 1998 Heather moved to Nelson, BC to spend more time with her grandchildren Caylee, Dylan, Suki, then relocated back to Calgary in 2006, where she got to know her younger grandchildren, Hallie and Olin. Near the end of her life she found a great deal of pleasure in connecting with her one year old great-grandson Jaden.

Heather was a caregiver to a number of people with special needs and found a great deal of reward in making this her last career. She had a love of gardening, spending time with her family and looking for special treasures at garage sales on the weekends.

Heather is also survived by her sons Gordon (Natalie) Vermette and John Vermette; daughters Debbie Vermette and Sandy Brown of Nelson, BC; and step-daughters Mona Jorgensen and Lynn Gallen, both of Bragg Creek, AB.

A private family service will be held. Please forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Rocky View Hospital and the Sarcee Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion in Heather’s last days.

In living memory of Heather Jorgensen, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Telephone: (403)243-8200

Condolence Messages

  1. Catherine Bean :

    Mona and family,

On behalf of my Mom, Catherine, we would like to offer you our deepest sympathy. As you know, Mom and Heather met at the Beverly Glenmore, sharing many meals together and eventually living in rooms beside each other. Heather and Mom laughed about life and the many funny life stories they shared with each other. She definately was a bright light in my Moms life…and she is missed terribly by her.
    May she rest in Peace
    Nancy Gording

  7. Michael Doerfler :

I was deeply saddened to hear of Heather’s passing. I was on a vacation in Nelson and happened to read the sad news in the papers.

I met Heather as a classmate in college back in late 90’s. She was very deeply fond of my infectious laughter which… that no matter where in the college… if she heard my laughter in the distance without even knowing what the conversation contents were about… she had to laugh outloud to herself and it certainly brought a smile to her face. 🙂 Heather’s smile was also always ‘real’ and it certainly was one of the greatest qualities about her that I will never forget.

God bless Heather Jorgensen. I will always treasure my moments with her and thankfully I have plenty of photos of her during that year along with the memories too.
To the family… I am very sorry about your loss and I know she will be missed! 🙂

We were neighbours in Chilliwack and I fondly remember the good times we shared in Chilliwack and when we visited Calgary. Heather was a warm, caring person. She was a wonderful mother and I can imagine what a loving, doting grandmother and great-grandmother she would be. I will always treasure her memory in my heart.
