July 8, 1930 – November 20, 2012
It is with deep sadness that the family of Eveline Johnstone announces her passing on November 20, 2012 following a courageous battle with cancer. Mom faced her battle the same way she showed us how to live our lives; with grace and dignity.
Eveline was born in Melville, SK on July 8, 1930 and spent much of her youth working on the family farm and, for a brief time, at the family owned hotel in Jedburg before getting a job at the post office in Melville. This is where she met her husband, Danny, and they married in October of 1956 before starting their life together in Swift Current. Ev & Dan moved to Calgary in 1958 where she began raising their 4 children while Dan worked in the oil patch. Ev spent her life tending to the needs of her children and then later enjoyed the opportunity to dote on her 11 grandchildren. Ev enjoyed reading, crocheting and travelling with Danny to the cabin at the lake, or to see her family and, of course, to Las Vegas! Ev was a devout Catholic and regularly attended Sunday Mass. Her faith and devotion to the church kept her strong and helps us all to find peace in her passing.
Ev is survived by her husband of 56 years Andrew (Danny); sons Kevin (Wendy), Trevor (Darcy), Rick (Cori); daughter Alanna (Ron) as well as her treasured grandchildren Alleah, Kala, Tyler, Conner, Mitchell, Spencer, Victoria, Jake, Lindsay, Erik and Callie. Also left to mourn are her sister Eleanor (Hector) and brothers Morley (Yvette) and Clement; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ev was predeceased by her parents, Mary & Howard Pankoski; brothers Albin and Victor, and brother-in-law Hector Yelle.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (Corner of Northmount Drive & Northland Drive N.W.) on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests for donations to be made to The Salvation Army Agape Hospice, 1302 8th Ave. NW, Calgary, AB T2N 1B8 (www.agapehospice.ca).
