JOHNSON, Walborg (Wally) Sigrid

December 1, 1914 – February 1, 2013

With precious memories, the family is sad to announce the passing of Wally Johnson on February 1, 2013. Wally had just celebrated her 98th birthday at her lodge in Strathmore where she had resided for the last ten months. Wally was born in Carmangay, AB and took all her schooling in a one-room schoolhouse. Then, to go to Normal School, she moved to Calgary where she taught for many years. Wally was an avid golfer and bowler into her 90’s. She travelled throughout Canada and the USA while she held the highest office as Supreme Chief with the Pythian Sisters.

Wally leaves behind a loving family: sons, Roger (Maureen) and Doug (Barb); and daughter Arlene (Al) Kennedy; as well as grandchildren, Leah and Karen, David, Kevin and Cheryl, Brad and Brett; and ten great-grandchildren. Wally was predeceased by her husband Len; and sisters, Louise, Jenny and Alice; brother Paul Ulfsten; and adopted brother Otto Wolff.

A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through
