October 13, 1924 – Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan
August 13, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta
With his devoted partner Betty by his side, Lorne passed away at the Rockyview Hospital on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 after a brief battle with pneumonia. He was predeceased by his daughter Virginia Collin and is survived by his partner Betty Deason, his son Cody, sister Joy Bayly and grandchildren Jesse, Dallas and Brett Collin.
Lorne spent his working life in the construction industry, first with Bird Construction and finally with his own company, Puma Construction. He retired some 25 years ago to devote his life to his true passion, golf. Lorne was an excellent golfer and member of Earl Grey Golf Club for over 55 years. He could usually be found there in the summer playing or enjoying a dark rum and coke in the bar. In winter he and Betty would go to Mesa Arizona to escape the Calgary winter and continue golfing. Lorne had a great sense of humour and was often kidding his friends and others around him. He will be genuinely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Beverly Continuing Care Centre in Midnapore and the Rockyview Hospital for their kind and compassionate care during Lorne’s final days. In accordance with Lorne’s wishes there will be no funeral service. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
