Johnson, Donna Lynne

After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Donna Lynne Johnson (nee Burke) passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 18, 2008. Our sadness is that she is no longer with us but our joy is in the knowledge she is in a better place with no pain or suffering. Donna was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Gus (August) Johnson; son Gustin Johnson and daughter-in-law Lisa Blas; daughter and son-in-law Kristina and Russell Nutter; and granddaughter Ashleigh Nutter. She is also survived by her parents Phil and Gail Burke; sister Cara Snider; and brothers, Curt (Phillip) Burke and Robin Burke. Donna was a strong and courageous woman who believed in her children, family and friends. She always worked to help others believe as well. She accomplished this through many hours of volunteering, as demonstrated by her participation in the following organizations or positions: Law Society Practice Review Committee, Dispute Resolution Officer, Peer Support Volunteer for Alberta Law Society, Calgary Bar Association Mentor Program, member and volunteer for Children’s Legal Education Resource Centre, Western Showcase Committee for the Calgary Stampede, and SACA Curling Official. Many of her career accomplishments include her teaching and law degrees which she received while raising her family. She developed a successful family law practice and in 2007 was officially named as a candidate to be appointed a Provincial Court Judge. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church (10 Prestwick Drive S.E.) on Friday, October 24, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church (10 Prestwick Dr. S.E.) on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens.
