Ardy Jenkins passed away after a long illness on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at the age of 78 years.
Ardy was born in Forestburg, AB, and spent her teenage years in Claresholm. There she attended school, participating in gymnastics events and coaching others. She married Jay Jenkins in Claresholm in 1950, and they moved to Calgary in 1953. Ardy spent many years working with the family business at the Marda Theater. The Marda Loop district in Southwest Calgary actually takes its name from this family enterprise. Ardy’s family and friends from high school in Claresholm, the surrounding towns, Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club, and playing bridge made her life full, with lifelong support from all.
Ardy is survived by her son Gary (Nancy), daughter Janet Oliphant (David); brothers, Grant Neely of Balzac, AB, and Woody Neely of Lethbridge, AB; seven grandchildren, Kyle, Kurt, Cassandra, Bonnie, Ross, Carmen, and Andrea; one great-grandchild Jack; and many family members and friends she had come to know and love. Ardy was predeceased by her husband Jay of fifty-five years in 2005, son Danny in 2006; and her parents, Julia and Eldon Neely.
