Condolence Messages

  1. Dear Doug, Krista, James and families,

I was shocked to read about Luanne’s passing from Peggy Schieman. I worked with Luanne for many years at Simon Fraser. Hers was the first smiley face I would see in the morning and often the last before I left for the day. I LOVED Luanne. She helped me through so many things (we had a really amazing staff there) and was such a cheerful, happy and helpful person, all the time. She made so many people’s lives easier by how great she was at her job. She was a wonderful and caring friend to all. Although I haven’t seen her in years, I always recall her with such fondness. I still make some of her recipes and think of her then (specifically, cream puffs).
I remember hearing about all of you and feel like I know you well. Krista, I remember you getting into university, James, your jobs (I remember a moving job) and Doug, all of your banking news. Luanne was always so proud of her family.
I know this will leave a huge void in your family that will never be filled. I pray that you feel God’s strength and presence at this time and know that He has His arms wrapped around you.
I am thinking of you from down here in Virginia, USA.
love Wanda Lang (Simon Fraser 1991 – 1998)

  2. Matt & Chantelle Picco :

We are both shocked and saddened at the news of Luanne’s passing. Luanne was simply beautiful, through and through; we couldn’t have hoped for a better neighbour. Her jovial, larger-than-life personality will be deeply missed, as will her sweetness, generosity, and kindness. We always considered Luanne to be a third grandma to our children, Brooklyn and Rylan. The way she doted on them thrilled our hearts and brought such joy to our little ones. Luanne’s absence leaves a void in our hearts that will only be filled upon seeing her again at our heavenly reunion. May God sustain her family at this difficult time.

As one person said “Heaven has gained an Angel”. She truly was an angel to myself and my daughter. She was so beautiful inside and out. Always lifting up her family and those around her. Words cannot express how much we will all miss her. I was happy to have been able to sit with her and share lunch a few days prior to her going back into the hospital , I will never forget her hugs and her saying how much she loved me and give love and hugs to your kids. Love is what she was all about.<3. I am so sorry for your loss. Pray you all find comfort and peace in knowing how much she was loved and know she loved you all so very much<3

  5. The world has lost a little of it’s sparkle. Luanne was one of the most kind, honest and funniest ladies I knew. Whether sitting in Timmies, or doing her hair, it usually ended up with us laughing so hard we cried. I miss you my friend, and although we are all heartbroken, it can’t come near the loss of what your family is feeling. Please take comfort in the fact that her family was her world, Doug …. her rock, her kids… her angels, and her “grandbabies”… well, Moms from Beddington school watched them grow up on the screen of her computer. She was NEVER too busy to be a proud mom/grandparent, and we were always thrilled to hear the latest news. My daughter always knew she could go talk to her, and Lu would help out. Her kindness and friendship will never be forgotten. We might go to Timmies and toast with an Ice Cap in her honor I will miss you my friend, and was honored to have you in my life.

I am so sorry for your loss. Luanne was always the first person us parents met when coming into the school. She always had a smile on her face no matter what the situation was. I was on parent council, so I had the privilege of working with her a lot. She had such a helpful nature of always going above and beyond what was needed. There was always kind words and she had such an infectious smile and joyful fun attitude for life. She became more than a working acquaintance… she became a friend, and would even buy timmies for each other, and have visits at her house. I always enjoyed listening to her tell stories of her grandchildren, and show off photos of them also. I know you will miss her so very much as I will also. God be with all of you during this time.

  13. Leslie Ruether :

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Luanne’s passing. I met Luanne at CBE Area 1 meetings when I started work at a NW Jr High 10 years ago – brand new, terrified and overwhelmed. Luanne was kind, funny and so helpful to me as a new admin assistant – I don’t know what I would have done without her. I hope that her family can take comfort in knowing how many people she touched outside of their private circle… teachers, parents, students, colleagues. She made a real difference and will be remembered with love. My sincere condolences to the Jeffery family.

  15. To the Jeffrey Family…thank you for sharing Luanne with us. Her humour, kindness, frank common sense, family pride are all precious gifts and we all appreciated having her in our lives. Tracy reminded me of how no one else could say “darlin’ ” or glance over her glasses like Luanne. Our kids were her kids and she took good care of us all. Our heartfelt condolences to you all and may stories & memories bring you solace in this difficult time.

Luanne was a lovely person with a generous soul. My hope for your family is that, sooner than later, your days will begin to shine again in as much that everything around you will not remind you of your profound loss, but of the profound joy you were able to experience with Luanne in your lives.
