Henry Jansen, beloved husband of Johanna Jansen, passed away early Christmas morning after a strong battle with cancer
Henry was born in Redcliff, AB, September 27, 1919 and moved to Beaver Dam Ranch in 1925 with his parents, brothers and sisters. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1941, married Johanna Goldenbeld in 1944 and moved to their farm in 1946, where he lived for sixty years. Henry farmed and raised cattle until his retirement in 1985. Henry was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, mountain climbing and travelling. Henry will be remembered for his positive attitude, his love of his family and friends and the land that sustained his good life.
Henry is lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Johanna; his four daughters and sons-in-law, Joanne and John Fenton, Wanda and Allan Sammons, Alicia and Bob Brooks and Etty Jansen; his beloved grandchildren, Kim Coates, Kevin Sammons (Andrea), Kari (Trent) Brooks-Martin, Stephanie (Ryan) Ayliffe, Jason (Joanne) Fenton, Jonelle Fenton, Jaymes Fenton (Krista), his beloved great-grandchildren, Rachel Brooks-Kane, Kelsea and Russel Brooks-Martin, Bailee Fenton, Lee and Brooke Coates. Henry is also survived by his brother Steve Jansen and seven sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda Shibley, Alice (Harold) Ball, Harriette (Vern) Rau, Teunisje Harrison, Marie (Roy) Smith, Jeanette (Gil) Spielman, Johanna (Nick) VanVeen; also many brothers and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Madden Community Centre, Madden, AB on Friday, December 30, 2005 at 2:00 p.m.with Pastor Bart Keefer Presider. Private Graveside Service was held at the Cochrane Cemetery. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family would like to thank the health care professionals at the Bethany Care, Cochrane for their care and compassion during Henry’s illness.
