Earl Jansen of Calgary passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the age of 82 years.
Earl was born on Feb. 12, 1930 in Sri Lanka. He received his formal education in England and later immigrated to Canada. He then furthered his studies by completing an MA and a Med. He was a teacher in the public school system and at Devry Institute. Earl had many interests but his passions were for writing and art. He was a life long student and prided himself in keeping an active mind. Earl was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the writers Guild of Alberta. As part of his charitable work he volunteered as a reader at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church and tutored a number of students in need.
He is survived by his brothers Vernon (Pat) Jansen, Roy (Cynthia) Jansen and niece and nephews; Simon Jansen, Corinne Mills, Denver Jansen, Mitchell Jansen and two special friends Ralph Rea and Steve Harmer.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
