  6. I am so sorry to hear of John’s passing. Every dealing that I had with John was professional and pleasant and he never had a bad word to say about anyone. I always thought that he was a true gentlemen and his unfailing good humour at crime scenes and other stressful events helped the junior members cope. He will be missed.

  7. Although we were never partners I got to know John first in “B” District in the ’70’s and then in Ident in the 80’s. I only remember John being in good humour, I can’t think of a time when I ever saw him angry. We’ve lost a gentleman.

  8. I am so saddened in learning of John’s passing. I worked with John as my partner in Zone 3-1 for several months during late 1990 and into 1991. He was a tremendous partner and a good man. I feel fortunate to have known him and to have spent many hours in a police car alongside him just talking about life, the job and as we were of about the same seniority, looking forward to retirement. My sincere condolences to John’s family.

I knew John from our association at Brewster. As General Manager at the Columbia Icefield, John and I often met while he was training new drivers or was conducting a tour group. His passion for his job was clear to me from our first meeting. He was truly a professional and was a joy to talk with.
I also had the pleasure of working with John at the Vancouver Olympics and enjoyed his company throughout our five weeks at the Squamish depot.
    He will be missed.

  18. I met John when we both went through the Docent training at the Zoo together. He told me a story when I first met him and I have shared it with many people over the years. It was an example of how a person must be self aware enough to know when the time is right to move on. Though I didn’t know John well enough to call him a friend, he left an indelible mark on my life. I am sad to know of his passing.

    SIncerely,
    Linda Bruce
