Joy Hazel Maureen James (nee Pattison) passed away in Calgary on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the age of 90 years.
Joy was born in Tring, England, and after coming to Canada she lived in Gander and St. John’s NFLD, Montreal and Ottawa, and has lived in Calgary since 1976. She was a caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed gardening, camping and hiking, and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her sons Noel and his wife Judith of Kingston, ON and Guy and his wife Sally of Calgary, AB; seven grandchildren, Sarah and her husband Bill, Colin and his wife Leah, Eric, Krista and her husband Chris, Daniel and his wife Shayna, Emily and her husband Scott, and Leah; eleven great-grandchildren, Abigail, Zoe, Noah, Rebecca, Mark, Elizabeth, Lauren, Maddox, Lukas, Jaxon and Aliya. She will also be missed by her dear friend Joan. Joy was predeceased by her loving husband Charles in 1994, and by her brother Guy and his wife Freda. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations may be made to the charity of their choice.
