November 10, 1932 – June 14, 2012
Ernie Jakal, beloved husband of Carole of Calgary, passed away on June 14, 2012 at the age of 79 years.
Ernie was born in Hochweis, Czechoslovakia and following displacement during the war, made his way from West Germany to Canada in 1951. He landed softly on a farm in Compeer, Alberta, eventually mastered a trade (auto body mechanic) and met his life companion, Carole (nee Fisher) whom he married in 1961. They had three children, who are grateful for the life their parents made for them and they will dearly miss Ernie’s presence in their lives. Ernie is fondly remembered for his keen interest in politics, the jaunty angle of his cap, his love of his adopted country and the simple pleasures in life (geműtlichkeit).
Ernie is survived by his wife, Carole, his daughters Denise (Dave Nicholls) and Sonia of Pemberton, BC, his son, Darren (Daniela), his granddaughter Rachael Nicholls and brothers Arne (Margaret) of Zurich, Switzerland and Gustav (Elisabeth) of Wangen, Germany.
