JACKSON, Graydon (Don) Eugene

January 21, 1978 – May 13, 2012

Graydon Jackson, beloved husband of Sarah Jackson of Langdon, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at the age of 34 years.

Graydon is survived by his wife Sarah Jackson; his parents Karen and Gray Jackson; in-laws, Tim and Jo-Anne Pennell and Rachel Pennell and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Graydon loved hockey, playing on two teams over the past several years and keeping mental notes of his +/- averages for games which he always bragged about. He always looked forward to his yearly hunting, fishing and camping trips with his closest friends. In lieu of flowers, donations in Graydon’s name can be made to KidSport at www.kidsportcanada.ca or the Calgary Humane Society both of which he strongly believed in.

A Celebration of Graydon’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

In living memory of Graydon Jackson, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.

  11. David Yoshida :

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Jackson and Sarah,

The biggest compliment I can pay Don is that some of the happiest years of my life were during those three years where he played football for GCHS. Don brought so much to the table as a person and as an athlete. One of the character traits I admired most about Don was his desire to be an individual. With most high school students, conformity is the way of life in order to fit in, but Don was one of those rare students who was comfortable in being himself, regardless of what others thought. I respected Don to the utmost because of this. I will never forget the bus rides to Medicine Hat or the chats in the locker room with Don, solving the problems of the world. I dug through my football photos this week and found some great ones of Don in action. Jim Publow and I will miss him greatly. If there is anything we can do from Cold Lake, let us know.

  12. Trent Soholt :

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Jackson and Sarah,

I am extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Don. Although we have not seen each other in years, I still hold him as one of my closest friends. Don and I grew up together. He introduced me to much of the music I still listen to today – we played in our first band together. We played many sports together (hockey, football, basketball) and countless days just hanging out, talking and thinking of the future. We reconnected years later in Edmonton but our paths went different ways. Don will always be a big part of my life and a major influence in the person I have become.

I am sorry for your loss and sorry that I cannot be there to celebrate his life with you – his family and friends. He touched so many people and will truly be missed.

We are all better people because we knew Don.
    Trent

  13. Dear Mrs and Mr.Jackson and to Sarah,
I can remember Don as an individual who knew who he was, and stood up proud and just, because of it. He was an inspiration in basketball, hockey, track and field and football. Don had an amazing laugh, that would make the whole place light up when it was dark.

He will greatly be missed, but never forgotten

    Karen and Gray,

I will always remember my time spent with Don with such love and happy memory. He was really such a loyal and sincere friend, and a magical boyfriend; I was so lucky to have had him as my first love. I am so sorry I was not able to attend the funeral today and tell you so in person.
I was looking through my old yearbook and photo album and I do have some photos of him, if you would like. I can not begin to express how sorry I am for your loss.
