I offer my condolences to Rob’s family and friends for this untimely loss. I had the privilege to be a student in one of Rob’s MBA Part-time classes in 1995. He was an exceptional instructor and I learned a lot from him which I have since been able to utilize throughout my career. His insights and personal anecdotes remain with me to this day and I am forever grateful that I had the opportunity to be one of his students.

Deb. I am so sorry to hear of Rob’s passing. I have so many fond memories of so many chats. It all started with our common interest in miniatures. In later years I so enjoyed proctoring for Rob, seeing how much he cared for each student he taught. I will miss that infectious smile of his. My thoughts are with you and your family

Personally from my interactions with him as a long time colleague, we have indeed lost a kind, gentle, conscientious, and honest soul. The Haskayne School of Business and the University of Calgary were fortunate to have had his excellent services over the past quarter century. He asked for little, but gave much to the university.

  19. Allison Sloan :

    Dear Deb,
As you know, Bob and I were life-long friends. At least, we met when I was 17, so he would have been 19. I’ll always be grateful to him for helping me out of a horrible domestic situation.
So many fond memories, but I think my favorite was that he shared my love of classical music, although he didn’t know as much orchestral repertoire. One day we sat for hours and drank pots of tea, while I played and introduced him to some of my favourite music.
I was so glad he met you. You had a wonderful marriage – you were so lucky. I can’t believe Bob is gone, and my heart goes out to you. Let’s stay in touch.
    Love,
    Allison

Rob was truly remarkable as a cousin. I have fond memories of trips to Bowden where good manners had me visit with my elderly grandmother first (I was forbidden to just go down the street to Bob’s house right off the bat as Dad wanted us to be polite to grandmother and if I “disappeared” over at Bob & George’s house, I was “lost” for the rest of the day). Bob and uncle George coped with the untimely loss of Bob’s mom by Rock hounding, making telescopes, fun with microscopes, etc and the Isaac’s home was just a remarkable place of fun. Some of our efforts involved fire..dangerous electric experiments, etc.
Later years saw Bob and I have an annual August fishing trip to Chephren & Bauevais Lake. I think those ended around the time I went to Ontario for a Masters Degree and we both ended up growing up, getting married, etc.
My two most recent phone visits with Bob this summer and my afternoon in July with Bob were spent reflecting on his very happy life with you and how your family gave Bob a new family….he cherished you all so much and had bravely lost others close to him when young. He bravely faced the end and we know he watches over all of us.
