Jack passed away peacefully, on September 27, 2012, at the age of 96. He was born in Calgary at the Scottish Nursing Home, and attended Haultain Public School, Western Canada and Calgary Commercial High Schools. On graduation he spent six years with the Royal Bank in several British Columbia and Alberta branches. In 1941 he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served for one tour as Squadron Bombing Leader on 422 Squadron. After the war he received a BSc in Chemical Engineering and spent the next 32 years working in the oil industry. He was an active member of the Petroleum Society of CIM, serving on both the local and national Boards of Directors. He was a Life Member of APEGGA, a member of the Earl Grey Golf Course and of the Air Crew Association.
Jack is survived by his wife, Evelyn, his son Wayne, daughter-in-law Noreen; five grandchildren, Davina Saunders, Shelley Zackowicz, Meighan, Conor and Eamonn and four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents John Irvine and Mina McMullen, two sisters, Enid Irvine, Inez Prater and three brothers, Avery, Douglas, Harland and their spouses.
Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. Michael Catholic Community Church (800 – 85th Street S.W., Calgary) on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Union Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
