INGALLS, Micheline Claudette

September 17, 1946 – April 12, 2012

Micheline Claudette Ingalls died peacefully in the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, AB, on Thursday, April 12, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Micheline was born on September 17, 1946 in Grand Falls, NB. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Victoria Public Hospital School of Nursing in Fredericton, NB, in 1967. Micheline and Paul were married in Grand Falls, NB, in October 1971, and lived in Marysville, NB. In 1972 they moved to Sarnia, ON, where their children were born. Over her nursing career, Micheline worked in Fredericton, Grand Falls, Kingston, Sarnia, Coquitlam, Calgary and Cold Lake. In Calgary she worked at Alberta Children’s Hospital, Rockyview General Hospital, and Mayfair Nursing Home. Micheline and Paul moved to Houston, TX, in 1997 for 3 years and Micheline began volunteering as coordinator of the Alzheimer’s Care Team, a ministry of St. John Vianney Church. For the past 12 years in Calgary, Micheline has been an active volunteer in St. Peter’s Parish as coordinator of the Pastoral Care ministry and in other activities with the Parish and the CWL. She recently received a CWL 25 year pin. Micheline cherished her four dear grandchildren. Having been able to be so involved with their daily lives was her greatest joy.
Micheline remained surrounded by her friends when her illness was making it difficult to go on. She always wanted to be courteous and would be glad to know that she remained gracious to her loved ones, friends and caregivers to the end.

Micheline is survived by her loving husband of 40 years Paul Ingalls; children Christine (Chris) Calvert and Mark (Shari) Ingalls of Calgary; sisters Marielle Tamayo of Brasilia, Brazil, Charlene Beaulieu (Tony Thibodeau) of Tracadie, NB, Ginette Beaulieu of Moncton, NB, and Parise Beaulieu (Benoit St-Amand) of Grand Falls, NB; brothers Philippe Beaulieu (Gracia Couturier) and Gilles Beaulieu (Lucienne Godbout) of Moncton, NB; grandchildren Aletheia, Nathan and Matthew Ingalls and Kieran Calvert; numerous nieces and nephews.

Micheline was predeceased by her mother Yvette Beaulieu (nee Bernier), her father Michel Beaulieu and brothers Ronald and Bertin.

The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff of Unit 91 and Unit 57 at Foothills Medical Centre for their excellent and loving care during Micheline’s illness.

Please know that you are all much in my thoughts. Micheline was one of those rare souls who embraced life not just with sparkling eyes and an infectious smile, but also with a tender heart and a genuine empathy for others. Her unstinting generosity of spirit touched everyone around her, as did her gentle humour. (Who could possibly forget, for example, her wonderful tale of Sherlock and the gingerbread men!)

I will remember Micheline always, with deep affection.
