IAFOLLA, Anthony

July 7, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta

Anthony Iafolla passed away peacefully in his sleep after a brief illness on Saturday, July 7, 2018.

Tony was born in Villalago, L’Aquila, Italy on June 16, 1945 to parents Paolina and Ascanio. In 1949, Tony arrived in Calgary with his family and resided in Bridgeland. He was surrounded by family and many friends throughout his life.

Tony attended St. Angela School, Holy Angels, and Red Deer Special Needs, completing his schooling at Christine Meikel School. Tony loved gardening and singing, especially listening to western music. He led a very productive life caring for his family’s garden.

Tony also worked for FGV Woodworkers and at SAIT as a groundskeeper for sixteen years. He attended OLPH Church and volunteered often. He loved playing sports especially hockey. Tony’s kind nature and beautiful smile will always be remembered.

Tony is survived by his loving sisters, Lucy (George) Sticksl, Armanda (Leo) Virdis, and Josie (Ennio) Del Degan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Tony was predeceased by his parents Paolina and Ascanio; sister Concetta; brother, John; and brother-in-law Roman.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (400 Edmonton Trail N.E., Calgary, AB) on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Reception to follow at  The Italian Club. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
