HUBBARD, Marion Pearl

March 22, 1919 – Togo, SK
January 23, 2014 – Okotoks, AB

Marion Pearl Hubbard passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the Foothills Country Hospice in Okotoks, at the age of 94 years.

Marion was born on March 22, 1919, on Section 34, Township 28, Range 29, Manitoba Canada and her birth was registered at Togo Saskatchewan. Marion’s mother passed away at an early age and Marion, her sister Mabel, and her brothers Mervin, Alvin, and Leonard spent their early years in Winnipeg. In her pre-teens Marion, with her family, moved to Radnor near the Ghost Dam, and so began a long life involving ranch work, horses, guest ranches and raising a family in the valley of the Bow River and surrounding areas including the Jumping Pound district, Morley, Kananaskis, Ozada, Canmore, Seebe, Exshaw and Airdrie.

She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren enjoyed their hikes in the mountains with her and all participated in her bread and bun baking – everyone always left with a bag of bread and buns.

Marion especially enjoyed the last twenty years living at the Diamond Jubilee Manor on Bower Street in Airdrie where she had a great circle of friends.

Marion is survived by her children, John Hubbard (Wendy), Bruce Hubbard (Julie), Tom Hubbard (Mary Margaret); son-in-law George Fettes; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
