June 18, 1926 – Wostock, AB
March 26, 2014 – Calgary, AB
Peter Hrynew beloved husband of Edna, passed away on March 26, 2014 at the age of 87 years.
His youngest years were spent on the family farm in St. Michael, AB, where he became adept at designing, building and remodeling. Peter retired from LaFarge Canada in 1988 after thirty-two years of employment. He received an Award of Excellence from the company in 1986. As snowbirds in Arizona, shuffleboard became his game as he won many tournaments locally, nationally and internationally. On the days when he wasn’t lending a hand, he spent many hours woodcarving — The Queen, Mounties, golfers, animals and birds. When a family dinner was planned (which he insisted doing on all birthdays and special occasions) we knew the table would be set beautifully and the meals LARGE including his handmade coleslaw. His big project in the past years was writing his memoirs. He has “Family History”, “First 80 Years” (the last seven years added early March) and “Peter’s Scrapbook”.
Peter leaves behind his wife of thirty-one years Edna Taylor Hrynew — children: Larry (Michelle) Hrynew, Patricia Studer (Ed Rochon), Kenneth (Karen) Hrynew. Siblings: Lawrence (Pat) Hryniw; Steve (Margaret) Hrynew; John Hrynew; Anne Tkachuk; Olga Krisko; Jean Koroluk. Grandchildren: Tori (Shane) Healing (Madison, Arianna, Mitch); Jason Studer; Kimberly Studer (Cory) (Ashle, Morgan); Crissie (Justin) Richards (Jag and Mazi); Kelly (Chris) Brady (Taylor). Gregory Taylor (Chad and Amber Mae, Amber Rae, Megan); Cindy Rutherford; Kathleen Taylor (Alexander and Samantha). Also many nieces and nephews. Peter was predeceased by his parents Matthew and Maggie Hrynew, sisters Elizabeth Gargus, Margaret Rose and Vernie, and his first wife Mary Gargus Hrynew on October 17, 1971.
