Lt. Colonel Kenneth Holbrook beloved husband of Esther of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the age of 82 years.
Kenneth was born in England and immigrated to Canada in 1948. He was commissioned as a Salvation Army Officer in 1954, serving forty-two years as a pastor and in administrative work for the Salvation Army. Following his retirement, he was involved in bible studies and senior groups.
Throughout his life, Kenneth often looked to Psalm 121:1-2 “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.”
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife Esther Holbrook (nee Knowles); son Gregory Holbrook (Pam) and their children Janelle Holbrook and Teryn Scobie (Gord), and great-granddaughter Karmen; son Stephen Holbrook (Sharon) and their children Krysta and Megan; and sister Major Mavis Reid (Jim). He was predeceased by his brother Bruce Holbrook; sister-in-law Fran; and his parents Eneas and Elsie (nee Evans) Holbrook.
A Memorial Service celebrating Kenneth’s life will be held at the Salvation Army Glenmore Temple (921 – 68 Avenue S.W.) on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
