Hockley, Winona Grace

Winona G. Hockley of Calgary passed away on Friday, March 11, 2005 just a few weeks before her ninety-seventh birthday.

Winona was born in Winnipeg, MB on March 28, 1908. She was a teacher in Winnipeg schools for over forty years. She was a member of Winnipeg Westminster Church since 1934 and a member of the Winnipeg Business and Professional Women’s Club for almost fifty years. During the war, she earned a medal from St. John’s Ambulance for First Aid and Home Nursing. After retiring from teaching, Winona did volunteer work for the Winnipeg Grace General Hospital and was a Life Member of that organization.

Winona was predeceased by all of her immediate family and most recently by her beloved cousins Harold Benson of Calgary and Douglas Benson of Vancouver, BC.
