Donalda Hoad of Calgary passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the age of 98 years.
Donalda was born in Edmonton, AB. She moved to Calgary at age three, where she obtained her education. Donalda traveled the world as an employee with Canadian External Affairs serving as Secretary to Canadian Ambassadors. In 1951 her travels began in Dawson City and continued to Warsaw; Tel Aviv, (two postings); Bogota; Havana; New York City; Helsinki; Budapest; San Jose (Costa Rica); Copenhagen; and Washington, D.C.. Donalda had many interesting and humorous stories to share about all of her postings. Retiring in 1979, she returned to Calgary to be with her family and friends.
Donalda is survived by her nieces; Paulette Martin, Capitola, CA, Lucienne Falsetto, Kirkland, WA, Noella Tate, and Simonne Birrell, Calgary, AB; and nine great nephews and nieces and nine great-great nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her father; Gideon Hoad, mother; Marie A.J. Hoad, and sister; Lucienne Maria (Mickey) Schmidt.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Cathedral, (219 18 Ave S.W. Calgary, AB) on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
