HLADYSHEVSKY, Helen (nee Statze)

August 18, 1933 – June 30, 2012

Helen Hladyshevsky, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, passed away peacefully with her children at her bedside on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the age of 78 years.

Helen was born and lived her entire life in Calgary. She met the love of her life, Lubomyr, and they were married for fifty-one years. The early part of her married life was devoted to raising her five children and looking after her parents. Later she worked at the Bay. She unselfishly dedicated her time and energy to the church and the church community. She was an active member of the UCWL and became president for a time. She was a loving, nurturing mother, sister, and grandmother, an accepting, caring friend to all and a listening ear to anyone who needed her. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Helen is survived by her brother, John (Adeli); children, Marta (Jeff), Myron (Susan), Mark (Helene), Alexandra, and Stephen (Hilary); grandchildren, Laura, Paul, Tabitha, Sarah, and Jadon; and brother-in-law, Myroslav Hladyshevsky.

Helen was predeceased by her husband Lubomyr in 2004.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church (704 – 6th Street N.E.) on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.

Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church (704 – 6th Street N.E.) on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
