Condolence Messages

  1. Laura Kuzmiski :

I am saddened to hear of Ron’s passing. I picture him having a glass of excellent port, enjoying some jazz, or perhaps reading up on the latest chess move in order to win the next match. A special memory I have of him is that he would sometimes call and ask what our dinner plans were, last minute, and he was always welcome to come over. Often … he would not only generously bring dinner but also dessert for us all! On behalf of Lisa, Stefanie and myself … I say goodbye to ‘Uncle Ron’.

  4. May 21, 1980
I arrived at the offices of Getty Oil Canada for an engineering job interview and the first person I met (after the receptionist) is Ron Hinds, who promptly offered me a place to live.
I took him up on the offer. I was sentenced to the field for a couple of years but on my weeks off Ron and I had a lot of fun “My Marvins and Fourth St Rose” and we shared an enthusiasm for stereos and bicycles. I’d let the friendship slip away over the years but I’ll always remember Ron’s unselfish enthusiasm. Sorry for your loss. It was way to soon.

  5. Dearest Jessica,

I’m so very sorry for the loss of Your Ron. You may remember me better from the Gallagher Library at the U of C and your days there when you were completing your Masters’ and me working in the library. I met Ron the day you defended. I’m retired now but still remember you with great fondness and think of you often. I remember well the day you came in and told me of your engagement to Ron and I told you of my engagement to Heinz!! With much love, Sandy

  6. Sincere condolences from an old chess friend in Winnipeg.

We shared some interesting times as teenagers. And it was good to see Ron after so many years when he came back here for a visit.

I was very sad to hear this news, and my condolences go to his entire family.
