Hugh and Helen Hincks, died suddenly in a skiing accident in St. Anton, Austria. Hugh passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2005 at the age of 57 years and Helen passed away on Monday, January 24, 2005 at the age of 53 years.
Hugh Michael was born on October 17, 1947 in Deep River, ON, and Mary Helen, (nee Morgan) was born on August 29, 1951, in Dalhousie, New Brunswick. Helen and Hugh met while attending the University of Waterloo, in Ontario, she was studying psychology and he was studying engineering. They were married in Montreal in 1972, and moved to Thunder Bay, ON where Hugh worked in the consulting engineering industry. Shortly after, they relocated to Calgary where they started their family and Hugh began his business from the ground up, which became one of the most successful in the industry. Beyond the importance placed on the children’s education, growing up, sports and outdoor activities played a significant role in the Hincks family life. The family spent summers and holidays at their dream home in Panorama, BC. Hugh and Helen were enormously proud, yet never boastful of the accomplishments of their children as they grew from youngsters to young adults. Their love for each other and their children was evident through the enthusiasm they all shared for life and for each other. Hugh and Helen were inseparable and were truly soul mates.
Survivors include the children, Morgan, 23, Teddy, 20, and Daniel, 18, all of Calgary, AB.
Funeral Services will be held at Knox United Church (506 – 4th Street S.W.) on Monday, January 31, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
