HILL – Joseph Bernard

April 29, 1921 – September 23, 2010

His passing was brought on by a subdural hemorrhage.

Joe is lovingly remembered and survived by his second wife, Magdalena Grayson and his children Joseph (Nancy) and Dana of Calgary, and Beth (Terry) of Ottawa, his grandchildren Britt (Will) and Scott, a brother Pat (Carol) of Victoria, sisters-in-law Betty and Elma, stepchildren Gail, Charles (Chris) and many other relatives and friends including Helen (Fritz) and Jamie. He was born in Fort William, ON. He served in the Canadian Navy from 1941-1945 and took rightful pride in having received two consecutive good conduct stripes for his war service to Canada as an able seaman. From 1946 to 1951 he worked as a journeyman plasterer in Fort William. After moving to Calgary in 1951 he began JB Hill Plasterers and Stucco and his work graces many Calgary homes, apartments and churches giving evidence of his eye for beauty and competent construction inside and out. 2. Faye & Brad Marlow :

Dear Magdalena, Joe, Dana & family,

Your husband, father, and grandfather was an amazing, much respected, and loved man. He was considerate, caring, unselfish, and a gift to many of us. We wonder sometimes how our family could have made it through hard times without his kindness, consideration, and deep felt sincerity involving his support and patience over the last twenty five years. God bless you Joe. You will be missed more than words can say.

    With Love,
    Faye & Brad Marlow

  3. Dear Magdalena, Joe and Dana.
I was so saddened to hear of his passing. I felt quite at a loss when you, Magdalena, had come for a bitter-sweet short visit to tell me the other day. I always called him Mr. Hill out of respect – calling him Joe didn’t seem right as I’d known him since I was kid….some near 40 years. The last time I saw him he was in good spirits with laughter and a book nearby, even though he struggled to read. I will cherish that memory. He was a kind friend and neighbor to my mom. I wish you peace love and happy memories
