December 7, 2014 – Calgary, AB

Gail left us courageously after her battle with cancer on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at the age of 51 years.

Gail Ann Herrmann was born in Calgary on June 29, 1963 at the General Hospital. She was the 5th child and second daughter of William (Bill) and Eileen Herrmann. She attended Wildwood Elementary School, Vincent Massey Junior High, and graduated from Ernest Manning Senior High School in 1981. On July 26, 1997, their son Ryan was born, and on July 7, 2007, Mark and Gail celebrated their relationship with marriage. Gail had many jobs that took her many places, but her passion was running her own Day Home. Gail cared for over 300 children during her Day Home career that spanned over eleven years.

    Eileen, Mark and families
    We are so very sorry to hear of Gail’s passing. She has fought a courageous battle with that C Devil. I (Debbie) spoke last with Gail at another funeral and thought she had been doing quite well but alas that did not last. I wished we could have got to know her a bit better at another Schlaht Reunion. Your families have suffered greatly. May your wonderful memories of all the good things stay with you and your families forever and when times are dim, may there be sunshine and warm memories filling your hearts and helping you to smile again.
    With Our Sincerest Sympathy to You All,
    The Diebert Family….Donna & Kent Pitcher, Della & Jim McLean, Dixie Diebert & Ray Bahr, Darlene & Tom Scott, Debbie Zuback & Bob Mantler, Dorsey Jaworsky and Families

  4. Dear Mark, Ryan, Gail’s family and fiends;
    It is truly a loss to the whole world. Gail was a great friend and I will miss her deeply. She was a fighter and one of the best organizers of parties Calgary has ever seen! The last time I saw her was camping in the Okanagan…she was a mother bear protecting not just her kids, but everybodys. I have the honour of sharing her birthday… not the exact day, but the whole week. I will spend the rest of my life remembering her and sharing my celebrations with her.

    Mark, I wish could be there and give you a hug. You are also a fighter and a great friend!

    Ryan, remember that your Mom will always love you! You were her heart and soul! When you need her, she WILL be there. Never forget that.

    My prayers to you all, Rob Williamson

  5. My heart goes out to Mark and Ryan even Baxter at such a difficult time in their lives. Things will never be the same but remember all the good times you shared . She always looked at life in such a great way always trying to keep the smile on even though it was hard at times. She was not only a friend to a lot of people she always had the motherly touch also Ryan was so lucky to have such a wonderful Mom. I never got to know the rest of Gail’s family but I am sure they are also going to miss her a lot. Now the pain and suffering is gone rest in peace Gail. I am so glad I got the privilege to meet you and your friends I had a few wonderful times together with you all. It was more like a family feeling than being friends.

  12. Mark and Ryan, Gail is now watching down at you and although these are tough times she would want you to be strong like she always was. I will always remember her by the smile on her face and her contagious laughter. I myself have not seen Gail in many years and the times I came by unfortunately she was out. I thought of her often and we always meant to get together but life happened and coffee never did. My kids remember her babysitting them when they were young as Ryan and Kale were both born that summer. My heart goes out to you both at this time and may God bring you peace. Liza, Karah and Kale Nicholls

She will be missed but never forgotten. Hugs to you both.
