  3. In the 15 years since I first met and worked with Murray (Cheese to all of us ) I honestly cannot remember a time when his outlook on life was not upbeat. He was great fun to be around and we are all better off for having known him. My deepest sympathies to Rhonda and the rest of “Cheese’s” family.

  5. I first met Murray at a Kinsmen meeting when he joined the Calgary Club. Even thou that was more than 6-10 years ago I still remember him fondly. Two things I remember about Murray was he would always listen and hear others points of view before he commented. The other thing was his word was “gold”. If he said he would do it, it got done! I moved from Calgary to St. Johns NL. in 2004. Every year when I was back for a visit, it was always great to catch up with Murray.
He is going to be missed!

  6. Jean and I would like to express our condolences to my sister Rhonda and to the Hepting family. Murray and Rhonda fought a courageous battle with both strength and great dignity. Murray fought very hard and survived much longer than most people diagnosed with mesothelioma. They were a wonderful fun loving couple with many super friends and family. Murray will be loved and missed by everyone who knew him including their little dog Maddie.

  8. Greg Woolverton :

Murray touched a great many people, mainly with his incredible sense of Humor & his selfless giving nature. He was strong beyond words when it came to the ultimate challenge, his fight for life. Right to the end he had things to do & was planning many projects. I am so grateful to have been blessed by knowing him. He was a good teacher & gave us all a great example of “Grace dignity & strength under extreme duress” My heart goes out to all who knew him especially my Sister Rhonda who also provided immense support & showed great strength & courage by Murray’s side to the very end. Also to Murray’s immediate Family & friends. You are & always will be missed Cheese, Your Bro Greg Woolverton

  9. Amy Pruneau and Joel Martinell :

We only knew Murray for a short time since moving into the basement next door in 2010. He was always full of wonderful, down-to-earth advice, and a welcome friend to us, having not many connection in Calgary and being far from home. With sadness we express our condolences to Rhonda, Maddie and the rest of his family.

  10. David L. Neill :

Very saddened to learn of the passing of Murray Hepting. A very good friend years ago, Murray always had that “Maurice Chevalier” happy “smirk” and spirit. He was a rare person, loved him. I take it from the obituary that he suffered from a rare disease, which is so sad. Marked my calendar for the Celebration of Life.

  11. I was so very sorry to hear today that my good friend Murray passed, but very grateful that we were able to have one last visit together a couple of weeks ago. As you know Ronda, I won’t be able to come to Murray’s celebration tomorrow, but I do very much want to share with you just how much the Big Guy meant to me and how important and instrumental he was in shaping part of our future. I’ll come back to that.

Murray was my Summer buddy. When we saw each other one of us would yell to the other across the garden fence, “Ahoy Neighbour! Your turn for the coffee”. Invariably Murray would come back with, “wha-d-ya-mean? I bought the beer yesterday!”. We spent many a summer hour, over morning coffee with Maddie in attendance, always attentive for crumbs, putting the world, well Inglewood at any rate, to rights. I will miss our Summer chats. He was such great company.

I missed them this year, being so far away in Ontario. Murray knew how sad and despondent I was about moving and he spent many a morning hour reviving my spirits. In fact he did more than that. I returned from a house hunting trip particularly down and characteristically indecisive. I told him we had passed up on a seemingly perfect house, but I couldn’t drum up any enthusiasm. Well, bless him, he sat me down and after looking at the house details, told me to give my head a shake. He thought it perfect too. Not only that, he immediately got on the phone to the realtor and told her we would be making an offer. He sweet talked her into giving us a few more hours, as there were already other offers. If it hadn’t been for his efforts that day, we would have lost a remarkable house. That said, I would happily trade it to be sitting out in the sun with him again.

So Ronda, my message comes to you with as much love as I can muster for you and for Murray. I am so thankful that the world shared with us such a truly great guy. I will miss him dearly and I am so proud to have been able to call him my friend.

  12. Sheila and Todd Wilson :

Our world lost an important person that we were so praying would beat one of the most unbeatable cancers. Murray had an inspiring spirit that I hope teaches people what great, true, kind, compassionate, caring, people are made of and everyone can learn. We feel tragedy in the world for losing him and such pain for Rhonda and Maddie’s loss. Murray and Rhonda are two of the most special people we met in our travels during our summer getaway that turned into a celebration of Murray’s possible win at this horrible cancer. I will never forget our toast to life in Earls overlooking Kelowna Lake. Great times and great memories. Rhonda we cannot say anything good enough for you and Maddie. We are thinking about you and we are so thankful to have known Murray and will always love you and Maddie.. Thinking of you, Sheila and Todd

  15. Alex Mardones :

They told me the news about you , and my heart did not believe
The feeling wasn’t pain I felt , the instincts weren’t to grieve
The sadness was replaced by faith , the lord just did what’s right
He gave the man I call my friend the heart and soul to fight
Your memories are not lost with me because your no longer here
I’ll admit the loss of someone so special , brought with it my tears
The tears were quickly followed , and my thoughts were now of “Cheese”
The personality was larger than life , it brought you to your knees
We had great times and laughs with everyone , sometimes just you and me
We probably spent a small fortune at the pub, playing golden tee
Everyone that knows you, always say the same
If you were a true friend of Murray you were given a special name
I thank you for all your and friendship I was fortunate to share
The kind of friend you were to me, is so very rare
I miss you lots Amigo, and you’ll never be forgot
The words you gave to me I cherish , you’ll be in prayers and thoughts
