Emma Helm passed away peacefully at Extendicare Hillcrest on Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the age of 93 years.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rod and Rosanna of Calgary; daughter and son-in-law Linda and Al Spence of Vancouver; and two grandsons, Bryan of New York, and Kevin of Victoria. She is also survived by her two brothers Albert (Mae) of Calgary and Roy (Eileen) of Vancouver. She was predeceased by her husband Henry and her sister Freda (Fred) of Vancouver.
We will cherish the memory of Mom as a loving and caring person to her husband, children and grandsons. Through her family relationships and friends, she put together numerous photo albums to record the many memorable occasions. She was an avid letter writer who kept in close contact with her son and his family when they were living overseas as well as keeping in touch with relatives and friends. Emma was an active member of the Kerby Centre and loved to socialize with her many friends. In the summer, she enjoyed tending to her flowers and vegetable garden.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Sigrun, Donna, Marilyn, Dr. Stinton and all the nursing staff of the 2nd floor Extendicare Hillcrest, who lovingly cared for her during her 12 years’ residence and during her final moments.
Due to a family member presently travelling overseas, a celebration of Emma’s life will be taking place at a later date. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
