October 12, 1926 – Newcastle Upon Tyne, North England
August 7, 2014 – Calgary, AB

Frank Harrison passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Rockyview Hospital in the presence of his family after a very brief illness at the age of 87.

Born in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Frank trained in England as an Engineer and upon the advice of his father, immigrated to Canada in 1954. It was in Toronto that he met his wife Joan, and after marrying in 1956 they went on to enjoy fifty-seven years of marriage. Residing first in Toronto and then in Oakville, ON, they raised a family that included four children. Enjoying sailing on Lake Ontario, skiing, golf, music, painting and fishing, Frank was a very talented, active person and a loving father. The family moved to Calgary in 1975 where Frank worked for a variety of companies, including Delta Projects, Stearns Catalytic, and Alberta Gas Trunk Line before retiring in 1991. Frank enjoyed a lengthy and comfortable retirement, enjoying travelling and spending time with his family. Refined, chivalrous and proper, Frank enjoyed an independent life with Joan in their own home until entering hospital two days prior to his passing – his dignity intact against the advancements of age and time.

Frank is survived by his loving wife Joan; sons Paul (Karen) and David (Tiffany); daughter Lisa (Max) Mangelsdorf, and sister Joan of England. Frank was predeceased by his parents, sister Ann and brother Bill. A tragic loss for Frank and his entire family was the passing of his son Michael in 2007. The objects of his love and attention are his nine grandchildren – who were a great source of pride and enjoyment to him in his later years.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial Elboya Chapel, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to the Breast Cancer Supportive Care Foundation, Suite 414, 301 – 14 Street NW, Calgary, Alberta, T2N 2A1, Telephone: 403-270-2158,
