Harris, Ruth

 

 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Ruth Harris, known to all as “Grandma” and “Nana”, beloved wife of the late Bud Harris, on August 6, 2008 at the age of 85 years after a courageous battle.
 
Ruth Harris was born in Spirit River, Alberta and raised at the Salvation Army Children’s Home. She proudly served in the Canadian Women’s Army Corps overseas during WWII. Ruth married her husband Bud and raised her children. She is survived by her children;  Ronnie (Judy), Donnie (Susan), Gene, Doug, and special angels Dee and Sprout, also brothers Charles & Tim Bremner. She dedicated her life to raising her children and 7 grandchildren.   Her 10 great-granchildren were the joy of her life. She was predeceased by her husband Alfred (Bud); children, Jerry, Bernice, Judy, Edie, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.   Grandma will be remembered for her courage and unconditional love.   She is a true legend and hero, and will be greatly missed.
 
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow atQueen’s Park. Cemetery. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.   If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Calgary Veteran’s Food Bank c/o Calgary Poppy Fund, Suite 109, 315 – 10th Avenue SE, 403-265-6304. The family wishes to express thanks and gratitude for the loving care and support of Ruth by the staff at Southwood Hospice.
