Being a recipient of those famous cinnamon raisin cookies, I’ll attest that Mrs. Hardwick was the best cookie maker ever. My heart goes out to her family as she will definitely be missed not only in her family but also in Hardisty Place where we knew her our whole lives. God Bless.

My condolences to Mrs. H’s family, extended family, and friends. For near two years, I considered her to be a part of my life, and will always remember her kindness. Her door was always open to loved ones, and anyone she considered a friend. It’s true, her cookies, or baking in general, were to die for.

My thoughts and prayers to Mrs. H’s family, and anyone who considered Mrs. H to be a part of their life.

    Terry, Tony and Ippitha,

Our sincere condolences on the passing of your wife, mother and grandmother. Helen was an extraordinary person with a heart of gold. She fought such a valiant battle through these last few months. She will truly be missed by all who knew her. We are certain that Lea was at Heaven’s gate waiting to welcome her with open arms as well as others who have gone before her. Try to find comfort in knowing that her body hurts no longer and her spirit is soaring with the other Angels.

    Love,

  7. Marc Therrien :

I first met Helen shortly after I moved to Calgary, about 6 years ago. I began working at a little automotive shop where I quickly got to know Helen as “the cookie lady”. Almost every time she brought her van in she would bring an exorbitant amount of cookies on a massive plate, and I would do my best to help finish them off. They were awesome cookies. She brought us in other stuff too…She had a very loving heart. Even when she wasn’t bringing her van in, she would sometimes just stop by and bring us treats. Everyone at the shop loved her and will miss her.
It seems almost unreal, and is very sobering to think that she won’t be coming in any more. She has been a highlight to the last 6 years of my career.
My thoughts, and prayers are with her family. I know that if she meant this much to a bunch of mechanics, it has to be very difficult to lose such a special family member. That said, I know that her kindness has brought smiles to everyone she comes into contact with, and will be her legacy.

    Dear Terry and Tony,
I was saddened to hear of Helen’s passing. She spent so many years volunteering a huge amount of time with our Haysboro Girl Guides, and for all of those years I am grateful to have known her as a good friend.
    A GIRL GUIDES PRAYER…for Helen .
Grant O Lord, we pray Thee, that Thy blessing may rest upon us and all other Guides. Help us with Thy grace to serve our country and to keep the Guide Promise and Law.
Make us humble and friendly, eager for adventure, alert and prepared for service.
Give us courage to dare to do right, make us both strong to fight and steadfast to endure, and may our lives be filled with the joy that spreads happiness everywhere. Amen

So sorry I missed the funeral celebration. Mrs. Hardwick was a very special person in our lives as we grew up – besides her famous cookies, she made the most amazing Yorkshire puddings ever!!! All sorts of interesting things were always going on at her house for us kids to do and eat. She had a special way with all children and pets and plants – my thoughts and prayers are with Tony and Terry and her grand daughter, and all the others she welcomed into her family, she will be missed so much.
